About KCS

A Society registered under Societies Act and inaugurated on 15th Dec 1996 with 81 like minded Kerala Catholic families in Chennai.

The main objective of the Society is to encourage fellowship and Charitable activities. As a vehicle to enable this objective, 4 helpline zones were created.

2. Anna Nagar

4. Kodambakkam

The primary purpose of Helpline Zones are to help each other at the time of need and to meet regularly to develop fellowship and plan for charitable activities.

The registered office of the Society functions from its own building at 23 Halls Road, Kilpauk, Chennai.

Aims and objectives

  • To bring charitably oriented Kerala Catholics together.
  • To provide opportunity to meet at regular intervals - meetings, get-togethers, celebrations of special events, etc in order to develop fellowship and better understanding.
  • To uphold Christian values and set example in social and personal life, to dissociate from religious / communal issues which may adversely affect the harmony of the members, and to promote National Integration.
  • To develop educational institutions.
  • To create job opportunities for the poor and the needy.
  • To organise women and youth forum from members families with a view to promote cultural activities, special talents and leadership qualities.
  • To raise funds for meeting the objectives of the Society.
  • To assist people to initiate, organise, establish and promote developmental programmes and projects aimed at relief, rehabilitation and development of the poor of all castes and creeds, and to create an awareness in them to improve their socio-economic status.
  • To cooperate and coordinate with the various Government and Non-Government Agencies / local bodies at various levels to enable the society to carry out development programmes on the basis of self help and mutual help.
  • To organise and encourage educational and health programmes, both in the formal and informal sectors, by establishing educational / medical institutions, and promoting vocational / technical training.
  • To arrange scholarship and sponsorship programmes for eligible students to pursue their studies.
  • To organise savings schemes / credit societies, and promote cooperative efforts to improve the socio-economic status of the community.
  • To establish and maintain youth hostels, old age homes, orphanages and creches for children.
  • To promote infrastructure facilities like conference centres, seminar halls, libraries and documentation centres, recreation and entertainment facilities.
  • To undertake any other activity which may be necessary for the promotion of the objectives of the Society and to do all such other lawful activities that are conducive or incidental to the attainment of the above objectives.
  • The benefits of the Society shall be open to all irrespective of caste, creed, community, religion and gender.
  • The Society shall not carry on any activity with the objective of earning a profit.
  • Any amendment to the Memorandum of Association will be mad only with the approval of Director of Income Tax (Exemptions).

KCS Project Trust

KCS has created a separate “Permanent Project Trust”, registered on 5th Dec 2007 to train the underprivileged youth and women to gain useful employment and thus to support their families. This was done based on its experience for over 6 years of having trained such section of the society at large in the areas such as Geriatric nursing, Medical / ward attendants, Domestic workers, Handyman, BPO Operators, Sales personnel, A/c Mechanics, Machine Operators and Electricians, Tailors for the Garment industry. Over 500 such persons were trained in the past and were suitably placed in the industry. Over 200 ladies were trained in all types of stitching / apparel & placed in the Garment industry in Chennai.
